"Goldenrod"

Goldenrod is the Nebraska state flower. It is commonly blamed for hay fever because it blooms at the same time as ragweed. Ragweed is wind-pollinated and can cause hay fever. Goldenrod produce heavy, sticky pollen spread mainly by insects. Thomas Edison cultivated goldenrod to produce resilient, long-lasting rubber, but he turned his research over to the US government a year before he died and the project died there.
